Backstory
Verna lived in a small town, growing up as an excellent musician. In her teenage years, she found the love of her life, Seyton. They spent all their time together and were inseparable. When they were old enough to be wed, they got hitched and started their lives together.
Verna took over the family business, which was the town's bar after her father and mother retired. Seyton and her started a family around the same time, giving birth to their first son, Holland. Life was absolutely perfect and nothing could go wrong.
After Verna's parents died of old age, she started heavily drinking and it caused a lot of issues. The whole town soon knew her as the local drunk bar owner and the business started to sink. She tried to recover many times, putting on shows whenever she could to bring in extra cash. One particular night, her husband and a few friends came into the bar to stage a sort of intervention. This threw her into a blind fit of alcoholic rage, which unfortunately led her to accidentally kill her beloved husband. The friends drug her off to a local cell to be held for the night until they could figure out what to do for her.
After she sobered up, the depression hit her and she realized the horrors she had committed. She broke out of the cell to go home. She wrote a letter to her son, gathered her things and fled the town. She vowed to never drink again and is searching the world for a way to make up for what she's done.
