Backstory
Whenever Keiko was a young child, her parents would send her into small and dark places to steal things to sell on the black market in town, mostly from the greedy rich folks in the town. When she was a teen, her parents were finally caught and imprisoned for the rest of their lives. She loved her teenage years alone still stealing from the rich.
During one of her raids, this rich merchant caught her. In order to save her own life, she accidentally murdered him. His wife, Mrs. Mullee, see everything but was happy to see him go.
"Thank goodness you came along. Being married to him was the worst thing in my life," she exclaimed! She decided to cut Keiko a deal. She would stage an innocent girl as the murderer and Keiko would get off free. But, she would spend the rest of her life paying Mrs. Mullee back the debt she is owed. Keiko didn't have any other option but to agree.
After the trial of the innocent girl, Keiko set out into the desert to start her long career of smuggling. She moved into a new town and started taking up undercover jobs killing monsters in the desert. She sets out into the wasteland of the desert, stealing treasure from the monsters out there. This is how she met her best friend Horns, who now travels with her where ever she goes.
Keiko now has reason to believe that someone is creating all of these horrible monstrosities, specifically minotaurs, for evil and is close to revealing the secret.

Backstory
Horns has a very broken and hazy memory of what has happened before he met Keiko. He knows that he was created in a laboratory by someone. They used dark magic to fuse a human and a horse together, creating several minotaurs. He remembers the pain and suffering from experiments done on him and his fellow people. He remembers an unchained rage for other races and towards this mysterious man. Then, just blankness until he met Keiko, the first person to be kind to him.
Keiko shields him from a lot of his past and what happened. She mentioned that there was a fire in a building deep in the desert where someone seemed to be covering up horrible experiments being done there. She managed to save him before he died from the fire.
Horns has visions of a monster destroying the desert, a huge beast that is hundreds of feet tall that is aiming to destroy the world. He doesn't remember much but he knows that his hatred for this mysterious scientist grows every day that he and Keiko find these monsters in the desert.
